Ranchi, capital of the Indian state of Jharkhand is one of the famous and beautiful city in eastern part of India. Situated at the southern part of Chota Nagpur Plateau, Ranchi became Jharkhand's one of the most important city having famous universities, international sports stadiums, many tourist spots and its weather in winter. Although Ranchi has a humid & subtropical climate, the forests surrounding the place produce the pleasant climate throughout the year. Along with beautiful greenery, Ranchi is gifted with many heavenly water falls spread around the city. Every water falls has their own water courses. 'Dassam Falls', 'Jonha Falls', 'Hundru Falls', 'Sita Falls' and few more small water falls attract many of the tourists here.
Dassam Falls
It is situated at the Taimara village of Bundu. Dassam Falls also known as Dassam Ghagh. Located at the 40 km away from Ranchi on NH 33, this fall is said to be one of the most clear and clean fall & river of Jharkhand. Water here falls from a height of 144 ft. This fall is a natural cascade across Kanchi River, a stream of the Subarnarekha River. Because of its cleanliness, many tourists are attracted to enter the water to take a bath and swim. But, because of the high current in the water, they are warned not to do so. The sound of the water fall echos all around the place.

Jonha Falls is situated 40 km from Ranchi on road. You can also reach here by train. But taking the road would be the best way to go for an adventure. On the way to Muri, taking Ranchi-Purulia Road you can easily reach here. Here, water drops from 141 ft. You have to take total 722 steps down to enjoy the surroundings. Jonha Falls is the perfect example of a hanging valley falls. The main water course of this fall is Radh River.
Tourists coming from outside here can also take the rest house which surrounds a Buddhist Shrine.

Hundru Falls
Created on the course of Subarnarekha River, water falling from 322 ft, Hundru Falls is the state's one of the highest water falls. Different shapes of rocks and water falling from such height makes this place beautiful. But, in the rainy season it causes fear to the people to go near to the water. It is said to be India's 34 th highest waterfall. People can reach here taking Ranchi-Purulia Road which will take you here via Ormanjhi and Sikidiri.
Adding with this attraction, there is a pool at the base of the fall, where tourists can take a bath. And nearby to this fall, there is Subarnarekha Hydel Project which is also a place of attraction for tourists.

Sita Falls
Located at the 45 km from Ranchi, Sita Falls is a wonderful place to visit. Though it is in the Ramgarh district, with the efforts of Jharkhand Tourism Ministry, it has been made accessible for the tourists. Organised parking area near to this place and quality of foods available near by restaurants, make this place a place to visit.The name of this fall said to be come from Sita Devi of Ramayana for its beauty.
