Joychandi Pahar is the hill in Purulia district, which i have visited countless times and still whenever i get free time i go for picnic or trekking or just simple hang out. It is 2 km from sub-divisional town of Raghunathpur,Purulia. And also near to the Adra section of South Eastern Railway. To reach here, it is better for you to get down in the "Joychandi Pahar" railway station and book a 'Auto Rickshaw' or you can book your vehicles from the very next station 'Adra' and make it there.

Geography
Standing almost 800 feet tall,Joychandi Pahar stands on the open plains of Purulia. It is also major attraction for rock climbing. Among the three branches of the Joychandi Pahar, anyone can make it top of one of the branch by taking almost 520 steps around the bolders and ancient watchtowers. These steps will take you to the top of the mountain Temple of Mata Chandi (Probably from which this hill got its name). Everyday many pilgrims climb to the top of the hill for their 'Poojas'.

There is also an 'Abandoned Watchtower' on the way to the hilltop which is said to have been used by the decoits around 100-150 years back. The bird's eye view from the hilltop of the surrounding landscape is wondrous. A total cluster of hills with the surrounding lakes and huge holders all over the places make the backdrop surreal.
